A Christmas Letter from our Volunteer

I had a wonderful time working with “Hour Generation” this past Christmas Holiday 2019. I was granted the opportunity to not only wrap presents for families in Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS), but actually help deliver them to some of the families. This experience is wonderful for 3 personal reasons. First, I grew up & attended Elementary, Middle and High School in PGCPS. As a resident of this county, I participated in many community civic activities such as: Boys & Girls Clubs, volunteering with my church, participating with the local Soil Conservation District events, and the Community Coordinator for the “Generals Future Charity” just to name a few.

Secondly, I am currently teaching in PGCPS as a Preschool Teacher. I work directly with some families that are in need of assistance. This year my school was selected to participate by Hour Generation to receive wonderful Christmas gifts. To see the faces of the parents and children that are a part of my school community, was priceless. I was very proud to be a part of the whole experience.

Thirdly, I have a special connection, close bond with the founder, Jerami Grant. Our history goes way back to before he was born. I use to be the babysitter for Jerami and his brothers. Our relationship extends far beyond as friends, we are family. Our families are extremely close to this day. I was a part of his village and now I am helping him fulfil needs in the same community that he grew up around. I look forward to helping Hour Generation grow, provide and build in every way that I can to continue the support of the communities of Prince George’s County.
