Empowering Young Minds through Hour Story Time: Maryland

Building on the success of our program in Portland, Hour Story Time always brings this initiative back to Jerami's hometown in Maryland. The enthusiasm and talent displayed by the young students in Portland were matched and exceeded by the students in Maryland, showcasing the power of literature and imagination.

Following the same format as in Portland, students in Maryland were provided with a book and challenged to participate in our “Write the Power” essay contest, featuring the literary selections "J.D. and the Great Barber Battle" by J. Dilliard for third graders and "Jayla Jumps in" by Joy Jones for fourth and fifth graders.

 They were also encouraged to participate in our drawing contest, where students drew an interpretation of their dreams. The best design, selected by our HGF board, was placed on this year’s Hour Story Time Maryland shirt, provided by Adidas. 

We were excited to receive a total of 72 submissions, each reflecting the unique perspectives and talents of the young students.
