Dematha Catholic High School Basketball Team Joins HGF in Farming for a Cause

In October 2023, the boys' basketball teams of DeMatha Catholic High School and HGF joined hands for a unique initiative: planting seeds on the foundation’s very own farm, Hour Sustainable Urban Farm.

Jerami purchased a piece of land in Prince George’s County, MD, in September 2020, recognizing its potential for agricultural purposes. A noble cause drove him: to empower the foundation to cultivate food and alleviate hunger in areas around Prince George’s that face food insecurity.

During this collaborative effort, the team not only planted seeds but also explored the fundamentals of farming, learning valuable skills along the way.

After returning to the farm in January 2024, HGF collected and delivered over 30 pounds of fresh collard greens, kale, and arugula to serve senior citizens at the Largo Landing Fellowship House.

Looking ahead, HGF is filled with anticipation and eager to witness the growth of future crops and the continued positive impact on the community. With each seed sown and each harvest reaped, we will always reaffirm our commitment to serving those in need and fostering a brighter, healthier future for all.
